Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis' last romantic partner, Maurice Tempelsman, has died at the age of 95.
Tempelsman passed away on Saturday, August 23, due to complications from a fall. His son, Leon Tempelsman, confirmed his father's passing to the New York Times on Monday, August 25.
He was heavily involved in the Democratic party, though his relationship with Kennedy Onassis didn't turn romantic until decades after they first met following the death of her second husband, Aristotle Onassis, in 1975. Tempelsman and Kennedy Onassis began making public appearances together in the early 1980s and they remained together until she died in 1994 following her cancer battle.
Despite being romantically linked to Kennedy Onassis, Tempelsman was also well known for his professional endeavors.
He was born in August 1929 in Antwerp, Belgium. His family fled Belgium in 1940 as Nazi Germany invaded the country and they settled in New York City, where Tempelsman eventually attended New York University for two years. Tempelsman later dropped out of college and worked for his father's diamond merchant company, Leon Tempelsman & Son.

Tempelsman went on to become an internationally influential diamond merchant. In addition to convincing the U.S. government to buy African industrial diamonds, he also persuaded the government to stockpile the African industrial diamonds as strategic materials for national emergencies.
When it came to his political affiliations, Tempelsman became a major donor for the Democratic party in the 1950s. He befriend the staff of several presidents, including those who worked with John F. Kennedy and Bill Clinton.
Prior to his romance with Kennedy Onassis, Tempelsman married Lilly Burkos in 1949. The pair officially called it quits in 1984, though they remained legally married until her death in 2022.
Tempelsman was survived by his three kids - Leon, Marcy and Rena - as well as six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
