Former Alabama star wide receiver Amari Cooper has found a new home in the NFL.
The 31-year-old has signed a one-year deal to play with the Las Vegas Raiders. He is returning to the team that drafted him out of Alabama in the 2015 NFL Draft. Cooper still has plenty left in the tank and could easily help his old team on offense.
That’s according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport:
Reunion: Former #Bills WR Amari Cooper, one of the NFL’s top free agents still available, is signing with the #Raiders on a 1-year deal, per source. Some late, big-time pass-catching help for the team that once drafted him in the first round. pic.twitter.com/pWCjmWzCmv
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) August 25, 2025The Cooper signing also comes right after it was reported that Jakobi Meyers has requested a trade out of Las Vegas. Cooper should have many more targets before him if the Raiders honor the request. The best pass-catcher on the Raiders offense is Brock Bowers at tight end, but Cooper brings some much-needed experience to a receiving corps that desperately needs proven production.
The Alabama product returns to the Raiders with 10 seasons, 154 games, and 143 starts under his belt. He has produced 711 receptions, 10,033 yards, and 64 touchdowns in his NFL career. The Raiders drafted him with the fourth pick in the 2015 NFL Draft after he left Alabama for the draft as a junior. Since then, Cooper has had stops with the Cowboys, Browns, and Bills, before heading back to the Silver and Black.
Cooper was a star at Alabama, totaling 3,463 receiving yards and 31 touchdowns on 228 receptions. He also won a national title as a freshman in 2012, and in his final year with the Crimson Tide in 2014, he won the Biletnikoff award and was named a unanimous All-American.
This signing could be massive for the Raiders, helping to steady this offense with Geno Smith taking over under new head coach Pete Carroll.
