Zach Calzada is set to be an SEC starting quarterback again. Kentucky is turning to Calzada as QB1 entering the 2025 season, according to Pete Thamel of ESPN.
Calzada is a seventh-year senior. He began his college football career at Texas A&M in 2019 with stops at Auburn and Incarnate Word before landing in Lexington.

In 2024, Calzada had a career year. Leading Incarnate Word to an 11-3 season, Calzada posted career highs in attempts (343), completions (524), passing yards (3,744), passing touchdowns (35), rushing yards (332) and rushing touchdowns (5).
Calzada played in 15 games over 3 seasons at Texas A&M. He made 12 of those appearances, including 10 starts, in 2021 when he completed 56.3% of his passes for 2,185 yards, 17 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.
Ahead of the 2022 season, Calzada transferred to Auburn. He did not make an appearance for AU during the season and entered the transfer portal again.
Kentucky opens the 2025 season against Toledo on Saturday before hosting Ole Miss to begin SEC play in Week 2.
