    Everton v Brighton predictions

Expectations will be high for Everton to get themselves a win in their first ever match at the 53,000-seater Hill Dickinson Stadium having called Goodison Park home for the previous 133 years.

David Moyes’ side will be desperate to record their first points of the season after a disappointing performance in their first outing at Elland Road on Monday night, which saw a substandard performance from the Toffees end in a 1-0 defeat against the newly promoted side.

The Merseyside won their most recent meeting against Sunday’s opponents which will offer them optimism, however Brighton did have a good recent record at Goodison Park, winning on three of their last four visits without defeat, scoring 11 goals in the process.

Brighton came within a whisker of securing the perfect start to their Premier League season, their second campaign under manager Fabian Hurzeler, only to concede a 97th minute equaliser against Fulham on the south coast last week.

The draw leaves both sides eager for their first victories of the campaign on Sunday and the Seagulls will see the match as a huge opportunity to rain on the parade of the Everton faithful, in a fixture they took all three points back to Sussex from last season with an emphatic 3-0 win, which also came in their first away game of the season.

Everton’s opening day performance at Elland Road didn’t leave much room for optimism ahead of their big day on Sunday, while Brighton will be hurting from having all three points snatched from them last week leaving me to suggest a 2-1 away win may be the most likely scoreline come Sunday.

    Everton v Brighton betting tips

    Seagulls to spoil stadium party

Brighton conceded in the seventh of six allotted minutes of stoppage team at the end of the game which forced them to settle for a point in their opening game of the new campaign, and will be desperate to take all three points and put last week’s result right this time around.

Everton struggled against a newly promoted Leeds side last time out and will need to up their game considerably against a stronger outfit in front of their expectant fans at their new stadium’s curtain raiser.

The Seagulls head into the bout as favourites to win on the road, though the Toffees will no doubt put up a fight on their big day.

    O’Riley set to star again

Brighton playmaker Matt O’Riley put in a man of the match performance in his side’s opening day draw against Fulham last week, scoring the Seagulls only goal of the game while being deployed in a slightly more advanced position than he’s perhaps used to.

Having bagged on the final day of last season, the Denmark international has now scored in back to back Premier League games for the first time in his career, and with the added responsibility of being on set pieces following Joao Pedro’s departure, one can imagine the 24-year-old making it three in three.
