In a fresh development, fantasy gaming platform Dream11 has reportedly decided to withdraw as Team India’s title sponsor just before the Asia Cup 2025. The decision comes after the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill was passed by the Parliament and is now a law after receiving the signature of president Draupadi Murmu. India are scheduled to depart for Dubai on September 4 or 5 for the Asia Cup which is scheduled to begin from September 9 onwards.

As per NDTV, Dream11’s decision to withdraw as Team India’s title sponsor comes after the passage of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill 2025. The report states that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will now invite new bids for the jersey-sponsorship rights. While jerses bearing the Dream11 logo for Asia Cup have already been printed, they will not be used in the tournament.
Dream11 replaced troubled ed-tech giant Byju’s in 2023 to secure the India Cricket Team’s lead sponsorship deal for Rs 358 crore or Rs 3 crore per home match and Rs 1 crore for away games. With Dream11 withrawing as the title sponsor, India woll most likely play all their matches in the Asia Cup 2025 without a jersey sponsor.

“If it’s not permissible, we won’t do anything. The BCCI will follow every policy of the country as framed by the central government,” the BCCI secretary had said.
The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill 2025 aims to ban real-money online gaming. It also prohibits companies from placing ads. Platforms or influencers who will carry such ads will face Rs 50 lakh fine and also imprisonment.
