Bears 29, Chiefs 27: Tyson Bagent Preseason Magic is Real

A Tyson Bagent-led come-from-behind win against the Kansas City Chiefs is a fun way to end the preseason.

FINAL: Chicago Bears 29, Kansas City Chiefs 27 (ESPN Box Score)

Thoughts on the preseason finale vs. the Chiefs

FUN FACT: The Bears are the only team to beat the Chiefs at Arrowhead since the start of the 2024 season. In case you missed how it ended, here you go:

    — Chicago Bears (@ChicagoBears) August 23, 2025 What a beautiful late-game offensive drive by Tyson Bagent. A drive that started with 1:26 left on the clock, Bagent and the offense went 10 plays and 87 yards with no timeouts to win the game. What a way to cap a whale of a week that included a contract extension and an emotional release when discussing it at Halas Hall. To do that and pull out a fourth-quarter comeback on the road against the defending AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs is impressive. I know it doesn’t count for much, but it made for a fun Friday night watching a comeback from down 17 points.

INSTANT PLAYER GRADES: How Did Caleb Williams and the Starters Play?

Just because they finished strong doesn’t mean I am going to pretend like that sloppy first half didn’t happen. There were pre-snap penalties, miscommunications, and missed opportunities throughout the first half. That Chicago’s football team showed some resilience was nice, but it should never have dug itself a hole in the first place. I hope that driving home the details is easier to do for this coaching staff after closing the preseason with a win.

    Preseason Week 3 highlights

A final batch of highlights from preseason action.

This drive doesn’t happen unless replay overturns this wonderful catch by Jahdae Walker to start the fireworks:

    Three Bears

Caleb Williams — After a slow start, QB1 finished with a flurry by orchestrating a touchdown drive in the two-minute warning. That scoring drive doesn’t erase the poor start. But it makes me feel better about Williams bouncing back from adversity (even if it is just an exhibition game.

Braxton Jones — Jones got the start at left tackle and played the whole first half. For what it’s worth, Caleb Williams was sacked just one time. And Bears running back D’Andre Swift did spring some quality runs. Overall, I thought the line played well when the starters were in the lineup.

Austin Reed —  Chicago’s QB3 didn’t play a snap with Caleb Williams handling first-half duties and Tyson Bagent holding it down in the second half.

WHAT’S NEXT: Monday Night Football vs. the Minnesota Vikings, Sept. 8 on ABC/ESPN. We should all try to get some rest in the 17 days between now and when this one kicks off. The hype will be on another level. Let’s pace ourselves ahead of what I hope is our best year ever at BN Bears.
