THE NFL will increase security at its headquarters following last month’s mass shooting in Manhattan last month.
Shane Tamura, 27, shot dead four people and seriously injured an NFL employee during the attack.
Earlier this month, the NFL recommended enhanced security measures at team and league facilities.
It was revealed Friday that the NFL will improve its security at its headquarters.
A league executive shared that the NFL will work with the other tenants at 345 Park Avenue to put forth the changes.
The proposed changes will be looked at a special league meeting next week.
The build reopened on August 4.
Police believe the gunman, Tamura, was targeting the NFL offices when he killed four people, including a police officer, during the shooting.
He then turned the gun on himself.
It’s not known whether football left him with chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, which has been found in some pro players who committed suicide and can only be diagnosed after a person’s death.
Tamura left a note at the crime scene that read, “Plan, pause, reflect & flourish,” per pictures obtained by ABC News.
He also wrote “CTE chronic traumatic encephalopathy” and “Study by brain please I’m sorry.”
Tamura began suffering headaches while playing high school football, per ESPN.
His headaches continued into adulthood, and he used painkillers to cope with his struggles.
Tamura was previously treated for depression, a source told ESPN.
He was working as a security guard in the surveillance department of a Las Vegas hotel and casino.
Shaun Tamura killed the four people at the Manhattan building which is the home of the NFL officesObtained by NY PostNFL commissioner Roger Goodell confirmed the league employee injured in the shooting was “stable and improving.”
“These acts of senseless violence and hatred are happening around our country and our world far too often – in schools, churches, synagogues and in other places that should just not be happening,” he added.
“We all have to continue to be vigilant and do what we can to protect ourselves.
“The NFL is going to do that with our employees and with our people.”
