DENVER (KDVR) — A closed-down building lies in the Platt Park neighborhood with covered windows and an "Employees Only" sign visible from the street, but next to it is a white sign, giving Denver hope for potentially another Trader Joe's in the city.
The popular grocer is known for its unconventional frozen food and quirky snacks. Right now, there are only three in the city, and Trader Joe's just opened another store in Westminster. However, there could be another joining soon.

Kentro Group, a real estate developer, is currently submitting plans to the city to build on 1271 S. Pearl Street, which neighbors 567 E. Louisiana Ave. According to Denver city documents, in 2021, concept plans were approved for a mixed-use retail and residential area on 567 E Louisiana and certain parts of South Pearl Street.
Further documents were submitted in 2022 and 2023 about the mixed-use property, and in May 2024, an affordable housing plan was withdrawn. While further public plans haven't surfaced, Kentro Group is a Denver-based real estate developer responsible for bringing King Soopers to the Commerce City Plaza and the Trader Joe's in Colorado Plaza.
