VICTOR, N.Y. – Victor football is gearing up for a new season with high hopes of turning around their fortunes. They’ll start their new journey against Pittsford on Thursday, Sept. 4, at 7 p.m. in the annual Teddi Bowl at St. John Fisher.
In 2024, the Blue Devils only managed to win two games, a stark contrast to their usual performance.
“It’s new for us so I hope we’re doing that,” said head coach Geoff Mandile.

“Last year we were flat. The seniors I feel like really didn’t lead us, bring energy to practice,” said Langan. “But I just tried my best as a junior, an underclassman, first year on varsity, just try and bring energy to at least get something going.”
Mason Naple, another senior, emphasized the importance of teamwork.
“It all comes back to teamwork. I think last year we didn’t bond well as a team,” said Naple. “I can tell this year, coming out of camp, we’re good together. Everyone likes each other. It’s a very positive environment. I think we’ll be good.”
The new senior class, led by Langan and Naple, is bringing renewed energy to the team.
“Last year we were kind of low on energy and I think that affected us,” said Naple. “I think as leaders if we keep everyone positive and everyone’s excited to play, I think we play much better.”
Mandile praised Langan’s leadership.
“The energy like they said. Matty Langan really brings that every practice,” said Mandile. “He was the only one we named as a captain so far, we did that right out of camp, and it’s for that reason. He brings energy every day. Whether he’s feeling good or bad he’s going to be energetic. The rest of the seniors have kind of jumped on with that. It’s been a fresh start for us and we need it.”
As the new season approaches, Victor football is eager to return to their winning ways.
