Damascus, SANA – Syria’s General Oil Directorate at the Ministry of Energy signed an agreement with the Turkish Naqsh Holding Company to supply Syria with 1.6 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.
The agreement was signed in Damascus by Assistant Minister of Energy Ghiath Diab on behalf of the Syrian side, and Mehmet Batuhan Alkan, Strategy and Planning Manager at Naqsh, on behalf of the Turkish company.
Both sides emphasized strengthening cooperation in the energy sector to support infrastructure and increase supply efficiency in the coming period.This deal complements earlier arrangements with Azerbaijan’s SOCAR and Turkey’s BOTAS, as part of the Syrian
government’s efforts to diversify energy sources and improve the electricity situation.On July 12, Syria and Azerbaijan signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the energy sector, including gas supplies to Syria via Turkey.
