Blackhawks History: Franchise Scoring Records

Because August is a quiet month for hockey and the Blackhawks are celebrating their Centennial this coming season, we’ve been rolling through some of the franchise leaders from throughout the history of the franchise. Today, we’ll look at the best goal scorers in franchise history.

Over the past few weeks as we’ve discussed the first century of Chicago Blackhawks hockey, we’ve looked at:

Franchise Rookie Records Calder Trophy Winners Four-Goal Periods for Blackhawks Skaters Hart Trophy Winners Franchise Goalie Records Vezina Trophy, Jennings Trophy Winners Norris Trophy Winners

Entering the 2025-26 season, 48 players in NHL history have reached the 500-goal mark. However, two more — John Tavares (494) and Patrick Kane (492) — will likely join that club to make it an even 50 this coming season.

When Kane reaches 500 career regular-season goals, he will join a group with seven other players who played for the Blackhawks who have already reached that mark: Phil Esposito (717), Bobby Hull (610), Michel Goulet (548), Stan Mikita (541), Marián Hossa (525), Jeremy Roenick (513) and Peter Bondra (503).

Mikita scored all 541 of his career goals for the Chicago Blackhawks. Here are the players who scored at least 500 regular-season goals in their career for only one franchise:

Alex Ovechkin, Washington Capitals* — 897 Steve Yzerman, Detroit Red Wings — 692 Mario Lemieux, Pittsburgh Penguins — 690 Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins* — 625 Mike Bossy, New York Islanders — 573 Maurice “Rocket” Richard, Montreal Canadiens — 544 Stan Mikita, Chicago Blackhawks — 541 Evgeni Malkin, Pittsburgh Penguins* — 514 Gilbert Perreault, Buffalo Sabres — 512 Jean Béliveau, Montreal Canadiens — 507* — active

Here are the top ten goal scorers for the Chicago Blackhawks in the history of the franchise:

    Bobby Hull — 604 Stan Mikita — 541 Patrick Kane — 446 Steve Larmer — 406 Denis Savard — 377 Jonathan Toews — 372 Dennis Hull — 298 Tony Amonte — 268 Jeremy Roenick — 267 Bill Mosienko — 258

Bobby Hull still owns the franchise record for game-winning goals (98), followed by Mikita (84), Toews (69), Kane (67) and Larmer (49).

In the history of the NHL, only 28 defensemen have scored 200 regular-season goals in their careers. On that list, six have played for the Blackhawks (seven if think payroll, wink and ignore reality).

Paul Coffey Phil Housley Bobby Orr Doug Mohns Doug Wilson Gary Suter Shea Weber (wink emoji)
