ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Monroe Community College (MCC) welcomed new students to its residence halls Thursday, marking the fifth consecutive year of enrollment growth after a decade of decline.
Incoming students expressed excitement about starting their academic journey and meeting new people. One student, Jennie France, said she feels pretty excited and is hoping to meet new people, join some clubs, and ready to get her future started.
President of MCC, Dr. Deanna R. Burt-Nanna, also expressed her excitement about students returning to the campus.
“For them it means starting a very new bright future,” said Burt-Nanna. “There’s new students that have never been at our college before that are being helped by actually students that are here. Athletes and others were all pitching in to make this a place where they feel like they belong.”
The college says based on this year’s fall enrollment of over 9,000, they expect total enrollment for the 2025-26 academic year to be over 24,000.
