Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Isabella Chow from Chicago, Illinois, will head about 20 miles north to Evanston to swim and study at Northwestern University this fall. At the time of her verbal commitment (which, to be honest, was ages ago), she wrote:
“I’m so very excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Northwestern University!! I really want to thank my family, coaches and friends for their support. Go ‘CATS ”
Chow swam for Whitney Young High School and Chicago Wolfpack Aquatic Club and specialized in sprint free and fly. She won the Illinois High School state title in the 50 free as a senior, going a PB of 22.53 at the 2024 IHSA Girls Championship in November. She placed 7th in the 100 free (50.24) and swam legs on the 200 medley (23.52 fly split) and 200 free relays.
Chow competed in the 50/100 free, 100 back, and 100 fly at 2024 Winter Juniors West. She was a tick off her PBs in the free but swam a season best in the back and a lifetime best in the fly (53.52), placing 11th overall. At the Illinois Senior State Championships in March, she won the 50 free (22.89), 100 free (50.10), 50 back (25.12), and 50 fly (24.34). She was also runner-up in the 100 fly (53.66), 3rd in the 50 breast (29.78), and 5th in the 100 back (54.98). Her 50/100 back, 50 breast, and 50 fly were PBs.
Best SCY times:
50 free – 22.53 100 free – 49.86 50 fly – 24.34 100 fly – 53.52 50 back – 25.12 100 back – 54.98Chow will join the Northwestern class of 2029 with Gretchen Braun, Kayla Rodriguez, Madeleine Simmons, and Teya Nikolova. Her best 50 free time would have ranked 3rd on the Wildcats’ roster last year; she would have been 6th in the 100 free and 4th in the 100 fly.
