When the Bears play on Sunday during the regular season, I tend to use Saturday’s Bullets as a link dump to write about things I didn’t get around to during the week. So with Chicago’s football team (and its starters!) taking the field on Friday for the preseason finale against the Kansas City Chiefs, I decided to treat this particular set of BN Bears Bullets like it was being written on a Saturday.
But before we get into that, let’s discuss some newsy items. Here are three (3) reasons I like the Tyson Bagent extension: (1) It is a win-win deal for both sides. The player gets a sizeable raise. The team gains stability at a position it values without breaking the bank. Everyone gets what they want. I love those types of deals. (2) Bagent gets to learn under Ben Johnson’s tutelage in a low-pressure environment. If the first-year Bears head coach is even half the QB whisperer he has been made out to be, then QB2 will be taking in a ton of knowledge. (3) If Bagent develops well behind the scenes, this team could have a useful trade chip on its hands.MORE ON THE EXTENSION: Contract Details | Watch Bagent’s Emotional Reaction

— Bear Report (@BearReport) August 20, 2025 Gervon Dexter Sr. is coming off a season in which he made the most of entering the starting lineup as a full-timer to collect 5 sacks, 19 quarterback hits, and 4 tackles-for-loss. A healthy Dexter gives the Bears’ defensive line a punche’s chance at being a strong group this season. Can you believe we are just 18 days from the Chicago Bears kicking off their regular-season slate of games on Monday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings at Soldier Field? The start of a new NFL season is so close that I can taste it. And if you need to know, it tastes like encased meats, grilled, and enjoyed at a tailgate with your football family. — Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) August 20, 2025 The NFL’s summertime trade season is here. More on that later this morning. But given the racent batch of movement, I’m curious to know what Minnesota has up its sleeve in terms of a wide receiver target. Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio is keeping tabs on the Trey Hendrickson trade market from a wagering perspective, noting that the Cincinnati Bengals are still the betting favorites to keep the All-Pro pass rusher. However, Florio also points out that NFC contenders (he lists the Commanders, 49ers, Eagles, Lions, and Packers as possible destinations). I hate that all of those teams are on the Bears’ list of opponents this year. It sounds like Kyle Allen has the inside track on being the Detroit Lions’ backup quarterback. If he does, he will do so while holding off 2023 third-round pick Hendon Hooker. (Detroit Free Press) Sam Neumann (Awful Announcing) points out that the NFL media deal with ESPN is already changing things at the network. There is some fascinating stuff going on in the sports media landscape, particularly for football fans.MORE FROM BLEACHER NATION BEARS: Go Ad-Free | Subscribe to the BN Newsletter
