First Alert Weather: Some very welcome wet weather

ROCHESESTER, N.Y. – Most of the steady, heavier rain has ended with just pockets of sprinkles, drizzle and fog left for tonight. Many communities measured close to an inch of rain during the past 24 hours.  This was much needed rainfall and no doubt will alleviate the very dry conditions across Western New York.  However, the damp weather will be slow to clear.  Look for more damp weather through tonight and into early Thursday.  The sunshine will slowly return Thursday afternoon with temperatures rising into the lower 70s.  Friday will bring bright sunshine with the mercury closer to 80 degrees.

The News10NBC First Alert meteorologists continue to track Hurricane Erin which is about 300 miles southwest of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. Hurricane Erin is a category two hurricane with winds in excess of 100 miles per hour.  The hurricane is expected to be at its closest point to Cape Hutterers by Thursday morning, but the expected track of storm should keep it from reaching the mainland of the United States.
