ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A man accused of attacking a nurse at Highland Hospital pleaded not guilty to his charges in court Wednesday morning.
Robert White was indicted Monday on two counts of assault as police say White attacked the nurse, a woman in her 60s, as she walked to her car on July 24, saying the attack was related to her job as a nurse.

One count is because the victim is a nurse, and the second is because she is over 65 years old and he is more than ten years younger than her.
“So there’s two different counts. One is pertaining to the victim’s status as a registered nurse. And the other one pertains to the age difference between the defendant and the victim in this case,” said Assistant District Attorney Adam VanHeyst.
On Aug. 4, White was scheduled for a pre-trial hearing in this case but refused to attend.

Although he didn’t show up for the pre-trial hearing in this case, on Aug. 5, White was in court for a pre-trial hearing related to another case where he is charged with assault in the third degree and harassment in the second degree, as he is accused of attacking two people at an apartment building back in January.

In court Wednesday, White was called a double predicate felon which means he has two prior felony convictions.
The state prison system has no record of him, and the DA’s Office is not allowed to comment on a person’s prior criminal history.
White is being held in jail on no bail.
