HOMEOWNERS and renters in a US state can get a $14,000 rebate payment from a massive $700 million pot.
This money is free to claim until the cash runs out, and it’s part of a government environmental scheme.
In the state of Texas, homeowners and renters are being given a $700 million pot to claim financial support from.
Citizens can apply for a piece when they upgrade to ENERGY-STAR-approved appliances.
ENERGY-STAR is a seal of approval from the government that the appliance in your home is energy efficient.
Different appliances have different rebate limits, and all in all, you can claim up to $14,000.
The appliances are:
Heat pump water heater – up to $1,750 Heat pump for space heating and cooling – up to $8,000 Electric stove, cooktop, range, oven – up to $840 Heat pump clothes dryer – up to $840 Electric breaker box – up to $4,000 Insulation, air sealing and ventilation – up to $1,600 Electric wiring – up to $2,500It’s being done to encourage people in Texas to clean the environment with more energy-efficient appliances.
WHO WILL QUALIFY?
There are different rules for homeowners and renters when applying.
For single home-owning families making less than the household median income of $78,171, most of the costs of the rebate could be covered.
Those making above the median amount can still qualify for a smaller rebate, but the details of this have not been released yet.
For renters, they could see savings from 50% to even 1100% off.
This applies to landlords owning multi-family housing, with at least half of the tenants being in low- or moderate-income households.
Lanlodrds can use the funds from the rebate to improve the premises and make them more energy efficient.
Money is also set aside for other programs in the state, such as contractor training, education and certification.
NEW REBATE PROPOSAL
In the state of Missouri, Sen. Josh Hawley has introduced a bill that would provide a $600 rebate check to American workers and families.
Hawley says this would come out of the tariff revenue the US is supposedly pulling in.
The Senator said in a press release: “Americans deserve a tax rebate after four years of Biden policies that have devastated families’ savings and livelihoods.”
The eligibility criteria for the rebate check would be similar to the COVID-era ones.
It would be determined by adjusted gross income (AGI).
Those with an AGI of up to $75,000, and joint filers with AGIs up to $150,000, would get the full payment.
However, if someone’s AGI exceeded these limits, the payment amount would be reduced by 5%.
