McDonald’s free backpack giveaways in Geneva, Waterloo, and Wolcott
Wednesday is the final day of McDonald’s free backpack giveaways for students ahead of the new school year. The backpacks are stuffed with school supply essentials.
McDonald’s will give out the backpacks at three locations: Geneva, Waterloo, and Wolcott. The backpack giveaways began on Monday, with students getting free backpacks at restaurant locations in Rochester, Williamson, Manchester, Geneva, Waterloo, Spencerport, and Wolcott.
There is a limit of one bag per child. The child must be present to get the supplies. Here’s the rest of the schedule:
Wednesday at 307 Hamilton St in Geneva from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at 2500 Mound Road, Waterloo from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at 5658 Whiskey Hill Road in Wolcott from 4 to 6 p.m.ROC the Block job fair
ROC the Block, a job fair series in the style of a community block party, continues on Wednesday. It’s taking place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Salvation Army on West Avenue.
This is the fourth ROC the Block of the season. The fourth and final job fair will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Parcel 5. The series began back in June and this is the fifth year of the series.
Some of the employers at the fairs will include the University of Rochester, Walmart, Rochester City School District, CDS Monarch, City of Rochester, County of Monroe, ITEC Training & Education Center, HCR Homecare, FedEx, Bausch & Lomb, Access VR, and Wegmans.
Concerts by the Shore
Party band “Allegro” will take the stage at the second-to-last Concerts by the Shore on Wednesday. This is the 39th season of the free concert series at Ontario Beach Park. The concerts have taken place every Wednesday since early June.
Each concert starts at 7 p.m. There will be food vendors there and parking is available at the beach. The series will close out on Wednesday, Aug. 27, with a performance from Ruby Shooz a 50s/60s rock & roll band.
