UNION COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- An officer-involved shooting is under investigation after one person was shot by a deputy, according to the Union County Sheriff's Office (UCSO).
The UCSO first reported the incident just before 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Deputies were called to a home on Canary Court for a domestic disturbance between two people involving a weapon. This is in a neighborhood northwest of Wingate.
While deputies were on scene, one of the people involved in the dispute was shot by a UCSO deputy, according to authorities. That person has non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. No deputies were hurt in the incident.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is in charge of investigating the shooting. Officials say this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.
