CTA Purple Line trains in suburbs suspended due to ‘debris on tracks

Service on the busy CTA Purple Line from the northern suburbs to Chicago was suspended Tuesday morning due to “debris on the tracks,” with commuters advised to seek other forms of transportation.

The temporary suspension comes as some roads remain flooded due to heavy rain.

NBC 5 traffic reporter Kye Martin said the service cut was in Wilmette and Evanston, between Linden and Howard.

“My advice is to use UP-North,” Martin said to commuters.

According to the CTA, shuttle buses have been requested to provide connecting service between Howard and Linden in both directions.

“We are working to restore service as soon as possible,” the CTA said. “We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.”
