Luke Combs was stunned by Garth Brooks’ generosity when it comes to thank you gifts.
The “Back in the Saddle” singer, 35, appeared on the Monday, August 18, episode of Dax Shepard’s“Armchair Expert” podcast, where he recounted the time that Brooks, 63, bought him a Ford Bronco Raptor as a surprise. At first, Combs thought the car belonged to his manager, who drove the same vehicle in the exact shade of blue.
“This was last Christmas. My wife was out somewhere, and I was feeding my son at the dinner table in our house,” Combs recalled. “I’m like, ‘Man, why is my manager pulling up in his Bronco?’”
Combs was confused when his manager handed over the keys to the Bronco.

“He comes in and throws me the keys to this thing, and I’m like, ‘Are you giving me your car, dude?’” he remembered. “He’s like, ‘No, man, Garth bought you this.’”
Combs’ shock continued as he tried to figure out the reason for Brooks’ lavish gift since the two didn’t know each other well.
“I’m like, ‘What’s … [this is a present] for what? This is a $90,000 car, dude! What are you talking about?’” he recounted.
During a later phone call with Brooks, Combs learned that Brooks bought him the vehicle the previous year after Combs performed “The Beaches of Cheyenne” as a tribute at the 2022 Nashville Songwriters Awards Ceremony, where Brooks received the Kris Kristofferson Lifetime Achievement Award. At the time, Brooks reached out to Combs’ manager for a thank you gift idea. Once he found out that Combs likes cars, he ordered the Bronco, which was delayed for a year.
Combs was surprised by Brooks’ generous present, which he insisted was not necessary, but Brooks wanted to express his gratitude for Combs’ performance.
