James “Tank” Carrington has found a new home in Norman.
The defensive lineman out of California had committed to play for Florida State in June. On Thursday, however, he backed off that pledge.

Out of Irvine (California) Crean Lutheran High School, Carrington is listed as measuring 6-3 and 270 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Carrington is rated 3-stars, the No. 42 player in the state of California, No. 63 defensive lineman and No. 530 prospect overall in the Class of 2026. He picked up scholarship offers from 30 programs during his recruitment.
