Meagan Good's past has helped her create her best future.
While sitting down with Parade to exclusively chat about her latest project with Lifetime, I'll Never Let You Go, the 44-year-old — who was previously married to DeVon Franklin — didn't shy away from how things that used to scare her about life simply don't anymore.
"When you've been through divorce or you've been through whatever personal things that we've all gone through in our own way shapes or forms — when you've been through those things — you stop being afraid of them," the Honor Culture wellness brand co-founder shares. "And you start realizing that you can survive anything, and not just survive, but you can choose to thrive. And you can choose to come through that space stronger and more resilient, and everything is about perception and attitude."

She continues, "And it doesn't mean that things won't come, but things are going to come anyways. So, you just have to figure out what you want and know that you can handle whatever it is, and you will always be OK."
Meagan Good stars as Emily in an original Lifetime movie.Lifetime
Good was previously married to producer Franklin for nearly a decade; the two officially divorced right before their wedding anniversary in 2022. The Good Girl Wraps designer went on to find love again with actor Jonathan Majors.
After tying the knot in March to Majors, 35, Good accepted her past to make room for their future together.
"Once I began to process that [you will always be OK], it freed me in ways that I didn't even know I needed to be freed," Good explains. "Even the way I'm able to love my husband, or to receive his love without fear, it's just completely different because I'm not afraid anymore."

"I'm actually more afraid of letting fear run me and fear talk me out of things that I want versus not knowing how they're going to end up," she says.
One thing Good wasn't afraid of was embracing her latest role as Emily, a mother and devoted wife of almost 20 years who finds herself having an affair with a co-worker. The original Lifetime movie is loosely based off real-life stories, which sat with her well after the project concluded.
"Most of the heaviness I felt after we wrapped, because you think about how this really is someone's story," Good shares. "People go through these things all the time, and sometimes they're not as lucky. [I was] thinking about, just as a woman, the right to explore the space that you're in now, but again, how those choices can impact not just you, but everybody that you love potentially.
"The heaviness of it, while I understood it, and while I was experiencing it and living it with the character, when you finish, it's almost an ordeal that you've come through."
I'll Never Let You Go airs Saturday, Aug. 16, at 7/8C on Lifetime.
