Auction experts expect the final sale to surpass $6.1 million, which would eclipse the highest basketball card sales to date, including Stephen Curry’s $5.9 million rookie card and a LeBron James rookie card that sold for $5.2 million.
What makes this particular card unmatched is the fact that it’s the only card ever produced that includes both Jordan’s and Bryant’s signatures alongside Logoman patches. Bryant’s is in red, white, and blue, while Jordan’s features a gold-and-white variation.
Chris Ivy, Heritage’s Director of Sports Auctions, emphasized its rarity in a statement to TMZ.
"The Dual Logoman card offered in this auction is the only example created that includes only Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, making it the most sought-after example of the incredible Upper Deck Logoman series, and because of Kobe Bryant’s tragic death in 2020, it always will be the only one."
The consignor reportedly turned down several seven-figure private offers before deciding to put the card up for public bidding.
Ivy added: “We’re confident that it could, and most likely will, establish a new world record when the final bid is placed.”
