Real Mallorca vs Barcelona predictions and betting tips – Will Barca pick up where they left off?

Barcelona got back on top in La Liga last season, as Hansi Flick enjoyed an excellent maiden season as the club’s manager. Retaining the title is the aim this year, as well as Champions League glory for the first time since 2015.

Real Mallorca have the unenviable task of trying to halt the champions on matchday one. Will they succeed?

    Real Mallorca vs Barcelona predictions

Barcelona enjoyed a near-perfect season last time out. La Liga champions and Copa del Rey winners, they fell short in the Champions League but were otherwise hugely successful in Hansi Flick’s debut campaign in the dugout.

Expectations are always high at Barcelona, so the club’s supporters will expect to see the Blaugrana at least match those achievements this term.

For some the Champions League should be the main focus, but La Liga has been Barcelona’s bread and butter for much of the last two decades, with 12 titles to their name since 2004/05 compared to seven for Real Madrid.

Their arch-rivals are under new management in the form of Xabi Alonso, a former Madrid player who is back at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu as Carlo Ancelotti’s replacement.

Madrid are embarking on a new era and the bookies have them down as narrow favourites to finish atop the table, but Barcelona will not necessarily mind being underdogs. Besides, the continuity that comes from a second season under the same head coach should stand them in good stead.

Barcelona were unsuccessful in their pursuit of Nico Williams, who opted to sign a new 10-year deal with Athletic Club instead, so Marcus Rashford is the headline addition this summer. The England international has joined on a loan deal until the summer of 2026.

Cash is once again tight at Barcelona amid ongoing financial difficulties, so we are unlikely to see any big-money acquisitions before the summer transfer window closes. Even after Inigo Martinez’s exit to Saudi Arabia, Flick admitted that Barca will probably not sign a replacement defender.

Crucially, the manager has signed up for two more years at Barcelona, who will return to the revamped Camp Nou this season.

“I’m happy to work with this team,” he said after putting pen to paper on that deal in May.

“I like staying in Barcelona and working at this amazing club, with these players. We have a great relationship and now we’re starting from scratch. We have to work hard, like we did before. We have to improve, and we will.”

Barcelona will be looking to show they mean business against Real Mallorca, their first opponents in 2025/26.

Mallorca are no pushovers having finished 10th last term, but Barcelona should come out on top if they play to their potential.

Real Mallorca vs Barcelona betting tips

Barcelona begin their La Liga title defence with a trip to Real Mallorca this weekend.

    Clean sheet beckons for Barcelona

Real Mallorca were understandably pleased with their top-half finish in 2024/25, but there is still ample room for improvement.

Their principal weakness last season was in attack. Mallorca conceded 44 goals, fewer than fifth-placed Villarreal and only five more than champions Barcelona.

However, they only found the back of the net 35 times, a tally bettered by two of the three relegated clubs.

Mallorca drew a blank on 14 occasions in the league, including in their latest meeting with Barcelona.

Flick’s team can begin the season with a victory and a clean sheet at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix.

Tip Barcelona to win to nil at 7/4 with bet365

Barcelona’s attack will be hard to stop

Barcelona played some glorious attacking football last season. In La Liga alone they scored 102 goals, while they averaged more than three per game in the Champions League.

At times they were too willing to play with reckless abandon. A lack of balance cost them against Inter in their Champions League semi-final. No one could accuse Barcelona of failing to entertain, though.

Rashford will hope to make his debut from the start on Saturday, but Flick will be tempted to go with a front three of Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres and Raphinha for the first game of the season.

Robert Lewandowski is set to miss the encounter due to injury, but Barcelona will still carry a major threat in the final third. Real Mallorca may end up conceding either side of half-time.

Torres the able deputy to strike

Torres proved himself to be an excellent squad player for Barcelona last season.

He did not often start if everyone else was fit, but Torres’s ability to slot in anywhere across the frontline was invaluable.

The Spain international chipped in with 19 goals in all competitions – an excellent return for a player who only started 19 games in La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.

With Lewandowski’s fitness in doubt, Torres should get an opportunity to impress against Real Mallorca provided he has fully recovered from a recent muscle strain. His track record suggests there is a good chance he will get his name on the scoresheet.

Tip Ferran Torres to score any time at 5/4 with bet365
