Greeley business owner Rachelle Tabor announces candidacy for city council

A local business owner will run for Greeley’s at-large council seat in the upcoming election, with hopes to increase resident participation in local government and improve fiscal awareness.

Natural Wellness CBD owner Rachelle Tabor said she was initially hesitant to run for office but decided she wanted to be a voice for the people. Tabor believes residents should be more involved in the government decisions and would work to increase education about community projects and how the government operates.

“I enjoy talking to people. I love getting out there, and I think that I would be a good asset as far as trying to get more people involved with the city council and with the projects and things going on in Greeley,” Tabor said. “I want to educate people about what the city council does and how it impacts their lives.”

Though she doesn’t have any formal experience in local government, Tabor operates Natural Wellness CBD, which has three locations across Colorado and Wyoming. She believes her sense of commitment will be one of her greatest strengths, promising to give the residents everything she has if elected.

“When I commit to something, I’m 100% in,” Tabor said. “I will be committed to working as hard as I can to give the people a voice in the Greeley government.”

As part of her effort to keep an eye on the financial side for the city and for its residents, Tabor is committed to running her campaign without any monetary contributions.

“These are hard times, and I honestly would feel guilty asking anybody to give money for it (her campaign) when I know there are ways that I can do it,” Tabor said. ” I can do it on foot. I’m a big girl. I can walk it and meet people face to face. I prefer that anyway, because then I get to know the people and they get to know me.”

With Tabor’s announcement, the race for the at-large council seat has become the most contested one so far this November, with Greeley residents Ryan Roth and Antonio Molina also vying for the position currently held by Councilman Brett Payton, who is term limited.

    Election Day is Nov. 4.
