Harry Hamlin is opening up about a major personal milestone.
The actor, 73, best known for roles in films like Clash of the Titans and TV shows like Mad Men, got candid about his drinking on the podcast, Let’s Not Talk About the Husband, which he shares with wife Lisa Rinna.
"Today's one year," Hamlin noted, explaining that his pants had gotten considerably looser since he stopped drinking and took up intermittent fasting. “It wasn’t that big of a deal, but I decided to not use alcohol again.”
"You should get a cake today," Rinna replied. "A year sober is a good thing."
"It was not difficult for me at all,” he noted about giving up drinking. “I’m very happy. I was always tempted to have a glass of wine in the evening, have some liquor to go to sleep.”

Hamlin went on to say that he had stopped drinking many times in his life, but always went back to it. Things were particularly stressful around 2010, when Hamlin developed a dependence on Ambien, a popular prescription medication used for the short-term treatment of insomnia, while the couple was being sued by their retail landlords.
"I decided to stop back then, before I went into the program," he said, referring to Alcoholics Anonymous. "For me, Ambien is a deadly drug. Ambien can be a very dangerous drug."
Recalling that his brothers died from alcoholism and that both his parents drank a lot, Hamlin decided to return to the program at that time.
“Everybody should do the program,” he shared. “One of the greatest gifts that I ever got was doing that for that four-year period.”
While Hamlin said his sobriety is not a "huge deal" in his life, he said "it's a whole new world when you don't use anything to numb yourself."
