Target Announces End to Partnership with Ulta—Heres What That Means for Your Next Beauty Haul

Whenever we can kill two birds with one stone on a shopping trip, it’s a total win. 

Take Kohl’s and Sephora. The duo's partnership makes it effortless for shoppers to stock up on clothes and home essentials while grabbing Sephora beauty staples all in one spree. It saves time, and just makes life easier.

    In hundreds of Target stores nationwide, shoppers are able to experience that same convenience thanks to a collab between Target and Ulta. Sadly though, in a joint press release, the two have announced that they will be discontinuing their partnership.

    If you’re someone who stocks up on go-to Ulta products at Target, here’s what that means for your next shopping trip.

    The press release shares that the two have “announced that they have mutually agreed not to renew the Ulta Beauty at Target shop-in-shop partnership.” 

    It details that the collaboration officially launched in 2021, and helped expand shopper access to prestige beauty. Additionally, people were able to link their loyalty programs from both stores, “for added convenience and value.” 

    Fortunately, this partnership doesn’t end right away.

    It officially wraps up in August 2026, meaning people can still shop Ulta’s selection at Target in stores and online in the meantime. This extends to its rewards programs, which will also continue until the partnership winds down. 

    After the collab ends, shoppers will also still be able to pick up beauty products at Target.

    As the press release describes, its selection will include “a differentiated beauty assortment and new experience for its tens of millions of weekly shoppers, featuring a compelling lineup of essentials and unexpected finds, engaging product trial events, and a commitment to affordable prices."

    Meanwhile, later this year, Ulta is introducing its Ulta Beauty Marketplace where shoppers can find a “curated online destination designed to engage new brands and audiences.” 

    Target’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer Rick Gomez, commented on the duo's mutual decision to part ways.

    “We’re proud of our shared success with Ulta Beauty and the experience we’ve delivered together. The magic of shopping for beauty at Target is the combination of on-trend products that delight consumers with an inspiring and convenient shopping experience," he says. "We look forward to what’s ahead.” 

    For now, shoppers can continue to browse and purchase Ulta products on Target’s website or check Ulta’s directory to see if there’s an Ulta Beauty at Target near you.
