Reese Witherspoon Gets Real About Balancing Work and Motherhood

Reese Witherspoon often seems like she can do it all, though she got real about her struggles when it comes to balancing work and motherhood.

Witherspoon, 49, took to Instagram on Thursday, August 14, to give fans a glimpse into how she finds time to be with her kids amid her demanding career. She's the proud mom to daughter Ava Phillippe, 25, and son Deacon Phillippe, 21, with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, and son Tennessee James Toth, 12, with ex-husband Jim Toth.

“Someone asked me what raising three kids and building a career in Hollywood looked like ..." she wrote in the first slide alongside a photo with her three kids.

The second photo captured her and Tennessee smiling during his visit to her work as she wrote, “It looked like spending a lot of time in trailers together."

“It looked like always being on the road together," she wrote alongside a photo of Ava and Deacon in a car.

A following screenshot showed a text exchange with Deacon in which he told his mother that she “butt-dialed an Instagram live.” Witherspoon jokingly wrote, “It looked like my kids constantly giving me career advice!”

The Morning Show star went on to admit that “it looked really hard sometimes" to balance her two worlds. “I'd cry working 14 to 17 hours, sometimes all night long and still woke up early for carpool," she continued. "I was deliriously tired. It looked like trying to say something positive about work when I got home at night. So my kids would know that my work was meaningful to me and could be fun!”

"Grateful to stand alongside other moms in this beautiful, messy journey," Witherspoon captioned the post. “Tag the working mom who needs this.”

Shortly after she uploaded the post, several fans took to the comments section to applaud Witherspoon for keeping it real. "I'll drink to that .. Cheers Mama Bear!" one person wrote, and another added, "Moms being moms ….. great post!"
