BUFFALO, N.Y. — A man from India who lives in Canada is facing charges in what the U.S. Attorney’s Office is calling one of the “largest border seizures ever in Western New York.”
According to attorneys handling the case, Vishavpal Singh was caught Wednesday at the Peace Bridge in Buffalo with more than 100 kilograms of cocaine, saying it was in boxes in a commercial tractor he was driving.
Attorneys also say Singh was involved with a previous seizure of about 228 kilograms of cocaine in July 2025 at the Detroit Ambassador Bridge Port of Entry.
Singh was charged with possession with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine, which carries a minimum penalty of ten years in prison, a maximum of life, and a fine of $10,000,000.
Singh made an initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael J. Roemer and is being held pending a detention hearing on Aug. 19, 2025.
