A man who allegedly threw chunks of concrete at officers conducting an immigration enforcement operation in Paramount, and was added to the FBI’s “Most Wanted list”, pleaded not guilty Thursday to a federal charge.
Elpidio Reyna, 39, of Compton faces four felony counts of assault on a federal officer, court papers show.
A trial was tentatively set for Sept. 30 in L.A. federal court.
Reyna was taken into custody July 23 at the U.S.-Mexico border in a negotiated surrender, the FBI stated.
The defendant allegedly threw concrete rocks at law enforcement on June 7 on Alondra Boulevard, “injuring a federal officer and damaging government vehicles,” according to the FBI’s Los Angeles field office.
“The FBI issued video and photographs taken of the assailant on June 7 and Reyna was identified shortly thereafter,” the FBI said in a statement. “When agents attempted to arrest Reyna, he was not located and agents developed information confirming that he fled to Mexico.”
