First Alert Weather: Sunshine, warm air and some wildfire smoke Friday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – High pressure has regained control over our region, providing a quiet and sunny end to the work week. Friday starts off with temperatures near 60 degrees, and we’ll top out in the mid 80s during the afternoon. Aside from a few afternoon clouds, we should see a lot of sun, but wildfire smoke will once again be noticeable. It won’t be too thick, but enough to produce a slight haze over the area.

Saturday will be the winner of the weekend, with highs up near 90 and a mostly sunny sky. Once again, a few afternoon clouds may pop, but Sunday will feature some scattered showers as a cold front approaches. At this point, Sunday won’t be a washout, but it’ll be more muggy and we’ll have to dodge a little bit of wet weather at times.

Following Sunday’s cold front, we’ll enjoy very comfortable weather early next week, with highs in the 70s, low humidity and a good deal of sunshine. We’ll be watching the slight chance for a few showers by Tuesday or Wednesday, but there are still some questions regarding those chances. We could use some more rain, though, as we’re now considered in a “Moderate Drought” for areas west of Rochester.
