On its social media channels on Wednesday, August 13, iconic country music venue the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee, announced a historic debut slated for Thursday, August 14 — none other than Sesame Street's own Abby Cadabby and Elmo.
"Surprise! We can’t wait to welcome Elmo and Abby Cadabby all the way from Sesame Street to the circle tomorrow for a special debut. #Opry100," writes the Grand Ole Opry in the post.
Fans are already losing it over the prospect of some of Jim Henson's creations coming to the iconic country music venue.

"Take that, Beyoncé! Elmo & Abby Cadabby anytime!," wrote one fan on Facebook. Another fan made a great joke by writing, "Grand Ole Opry brought to you by the Number 100. Can't wait!" Another Facebook fan simply wrote, "Love this! ❤️."
On Instagram, one fan wrote, "AHHHHHH" and another simply posted, "?."
Over the years, the Muppet Show welcomed many a country music star, like Loretta Lynn, Roger Miller, Crystal Gayle, Roy Clark, Kenny Rogers, John Denver, Johnny Cash, and Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. The show has also done its own spoofing of the Opry, like in a Sesame Street skit with Dolly Parton that is coming to viewers live from the "Grand Ole Sesame Street Opry," or when Parton welcomed both Kermit and Miss Piggy on her TV variety show, Dolly!

But this marks the historic first time that a Muppet has performed at the Grand Ole Opry.
According to the Opry's website, the other artists performing on August 14 include the Opry stalwarts Ricky Skaggs and the Gatlin Brothers, plus Ben Haggard, Wade Hayes, Neal McCoy and country duo Twitty & Lynn, made up of the grandchildren of the legendary Conway Twitty and Lynn, Tre Twitty and Tayla Lynn.
