The broader stock indices closed at new record levels in what was an up-and-down trading session.
S&P index closed up 20.82 points or 0.32% at 6466.58.NASDAQ index rose 31.24 points or 0.14% at 21713.14.Dow industrial average rose 463.66 points or 1.04% at 44922.27.The small-cap Russell 2000 gained 45.27 points or 1.98% at 2328.05. Yesterday the index rose 2.99%
The NASDAQ index traded as high as 121.84 points at session highs but then moved into negative territory by -36.76 points before rallying into the close.
The S&P index was up 34.52 points at session highs then dipped briefly into negative territory by -0.74 points before closing higher.
Each of the broader indices made new intraday record levels. For the S&P, the new record high is at 6480.28. For the NASDAQ index, the new record level is at 21,801.75
