During his remarks, the former The Apprentice host had several kind words to say about the 80s rock legends. "Kiss became a global phenomenon, sold more than 100 million records worldwide and produced 30 gold albums and lots of other things they produced,” he said during the announcement. “They made a fortune."
Trump also said during his speech that Kiss — which consists of the original lineup of Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, Paul Stanley and Peter Criss — would do "something special" to commemorate the honor during the upcoming ceremony at the end of the year. "They're going to do something very special,” he said. “Kiss is gonna be here on, a little bit before the show I think, they're going to do something special, we're going to have a great time."
According to SiriusXM radio host Eddie Trunk, the band will attend and accept the award, but with one catch. “I have been told by a very reliable source involved,” he wrote on Twitter on August 13. “It is original band only and all have agreed to attend. So we will have all 4 in the same room once again! They do not play. More TBA.”
