Powerlines involved in single-person aircraft crash in Berthoud

A single-person aircraft crashed Wednesday morning in Berthoud, leaving the pilot inside in an unknown condition.

At around 8:40 a.m., dispatch received a call about an aircraft crash in the 9000 block of County Road 2. The Berthoud Fire Protection District and Thompson Valley EMS responded to the scene, said Andrew Kuiken, BFPD division chief of training and logistics.

    Kuiken said power lines were involved, but didn’t know how and referred to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, which will be handling the investigation, for more information.

    He was also unable to comment on the condition of the pilot who was operating the aircraft.
