Backstreet Boys Make Another Major Career Announcement: We Cant Wait

Backstreet's about to be back again!

After the Backstreet Boys' (Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, AJ McLean, Brian Littrell and Kevin Richardson) very successful 21-show Las Vegas summer residency at Sphere celebrating over 25 years of their biggest album, Millennium, the band has announced a slew of more dates.

"We’re adding 7 new shows to our ‘Into The Millennium’ residency at @SphereVegas this Dec 26, 27, 28, 30, 31 and Jan 2 & 3! ?," Richardson, 53, posted to his Instagram account on Wednesday, Aug. 13. "Tickets on sale Friday, August 22 at 9am PT. Presale & more info at sphere.backstreeyboys.com."

"We can't wait," the official Sphere account said in the comments.

A source exclusively tells Parade, "People involved with the shows wanted to see how the dates would do first before adding more. It's exceeded well beyond everyone's expectations. Nobody has seen anything like this in Las Vegas before."

And the demand for the boys is showing sky high in the numbers, too.

After the band's opening weekend, fans could still score a last-minute ticket through Ticketmaster at face value. Now, don't even expect to walk in the door without paying almost $1,000 a seat through a third-party vendor.

The band's last Vegas residency, Larger Than Life, wrapped at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas Resort & Casino in 2019 after three years. But this time, the visual effects and massive stage presence at Sphere made things larger than life, quite literally.

"We’re always looking forward to what’s next," Carter, 45, exclusively shared with Parade during the band's July 6 cover interview with Parade. "Sphere was going to elevate our show to this next stratosphere, so to speak, and every single time we get up on the stage, we’re like, 'Wow, this is incredible!'"

“Planet Hollywood was our first residency, and we were so honored,” Dorough, 51, added. “For us to come to Vegas was amazing the first time. And so for us to think about coming back to Vegas, there was always an underlying thought, like, ‘How do we top what we did before?’ And I don’t think we get any better than doing the Sphere.”
