Diana Ross has canceled a highly anticipated upcoming appearance on Royal Caribbean’s Star of the Seas.
The 81-year-old icon, who was named "godmother" of the brand new ship in June, was expected to kick off the cruise out of Port Canaveral, near Orlando, Fla., on Aug 20 for a three-day voyage to Royal Caribbean's private Perfect Day at CocoCay destination.

"We are disappointed that Diana Ross is unable to join us to be godmother of Star of the Seas," the statement continued, adding, "We look forward to announcing our new godmother soon."
During her appearance, Ross was expected to take part in a special naming ceremony with guests, stating in the June announcement, “I’ve always felt a deep connection to the ocean and the magic it represents — peace, adventure and awe. When Royal Caribbean reached out to invite me to be the godmother of Star of the Seas, I knew it was something truly special."An exact reason for the cancellation was not immediately provided, but there seems to be no reason for concern as the "I'm Coming Out" crooner is set to continue with her Beautiful Love tour in just a few days.
After wrapping up the U.K. run just last month, Ross is expected to hit the stage across several dates in the U.S. starting on Aug. 16.
Her most recent performance at the Hollywood Bowl garnered plenty of praise, with one fan writing, "Magnificent performance last night - what an icon. Still going strong - the show wan 2 1/2 hours. Wow."
"You remain my inspiration to hold on to my youth! Nobody does it better than you Miss Ross!" another added, as a third echoed, "The concert was magnificent ???."

The legend—dubbed the "Queen of Motown" after dominating the '60s charts with The Supremes—previously revealed to People that while touring, she's prioritizing her "health and well-being," adding, “My family is everything to me. I like staying busy. Because I love what I do, it keeps me grounded. I’m swimming a lot lately to stay flexible. I must get my sleep which is important to me. I do my best to eat well, but I do like Häagen-Dazs ice cream.”
The U.S. leg of the tour will kick off in Saratoga, Calif., and wrap up in December in Palm Springs.
