Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday night to promote their new film The Thursday Murder Club. Before talking about the film, Fallon made the duo a bowl of salsa live on the show.
The ingredients for the late-night talk show's salsa include tomatoes, garlic, lime, onion, jalapeño, cilantro, a pinch of crunchy salt and a squeeze of lime. Afterwards, Mirren and Brosnan had a bite of the salsa. Mirren, 80, loved Fallon’s salsa, while Brosnan, 72, tried to hide his reaction as the heat proved a bit too much for him. The Mamma Mia actor appeared to take a while to swallow it, but he ultimately declared that "it's really good."
As Mirren continues eating more of the salsa, Brosnan appears overwhelmed by the spice, coughing and blowing air on himself with his hand.
The British actress tried to offer Brosnan more salsa, which he respectfully declined, saying, "I'm fine. I'm really good," which Fallon laughed at. "I don't do hot sauce or jalapeños," he added, while sipping his water.
Directed by Chris Columbus and based on the first book of Richard Osman's series, the duo both star in the upcoming movie The Thursday Murder Club, which follows four retirees who spend their time solving cold case murders for fun, but their casual hobby takes a turn when they find themselves with a real murder mystery in their hands. They also both star in Paramount+'s TV series, MobLand, where they play Conrad and Maeve Harrington.
The Thursday Murder Club will be available to stream on Netflix on August 28. Meanwhile, fans can watch The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on NBC every weekday at 11:35 p.m. ET.
