Get ready to feel really, really old.
Garth Brooks marked the 35th anniversary of his hit song Friends in Low Places on August 11. The country music icon took to his Instagram Stories to share a "breaking news" update, celebrating the song — and its popularity.
"'Friends' has become a classic in the American songbook, a raucous singalong that everyone knows the words to. The song is sung everywhere from football stadiums to frat houses; dive bars to upscale lounges; summer camps to college campuses; and black-tie weddings to backyard barbecues," reads Brooks' website.
Easily one of Brooks' most popular song, and maybe the most recognizable, he called the tune the "anthem of the underdog."
"It's one of those songs that feels like it belongs to all of us," Brooks was quoted on his website. "It's the anthem of the underdog. I think that's why it feels so right to sing no matter who you are."
In March 2024, Brooks and his wife Trisha Yearwood opened Friends in Low Places Bar & Honky-Tonk in Nashville. The 54,715-square-foot venue offers food, beverages and live music.
In his tribute to "Friends in Low Places" on August 11, Brooks made mention of his year-old hotspot and discussed why he and Yearwood chose its name.
"A great song outlives the artist," he said. "It's why it's not The Garth Bar."
Brooks and Yearwood have done a few business ventures together. The two have been married since 2005 and are each other's biggest fans.

Just last month, Brooks celebrated the release of Yearwood's new album, The Mirror.
"I’ve never been more excited for you, @trishayearwood you’ve outdone yourself! The Mirror is my FAVORITE album you have EVER made…the world is lucky to hear your voice, your stories and your soul in this way. This album, like you, is a gift to all of us," he captioned an Instagram post.
