ROCHESTER, N.Y. – We’re on day two of this so far very tolerable heat wave. It’s about the best case scenario you could’ve asked for when it comes to heat waves, with temperatures only barely getting past 90 degrees and a lack of humidity making it much less uncomfortable. That’ll change tomorrow as southwesterly flow brings in moisture ahead of a cold front that will pass through Wednesday morning.
Temperatures will again be in the low 90s Tuesday, but with the added humidity it’ll feel like the mid 90s. We’ll keep it Green on the Threat Tracker however, since it’s still not enough humidity to cause excessive heat index values. Nevertheless, try to stay indoors with the cool AC blowing if you can. Stay hydrated and seek shade if you’ll be outdoors.
With the added humidity we’ll have chances for isolated showers Tuesday afternoon along the lakeshore boundary near Rt 104, but the best chance for rain for everyone will be Wednesday morning as that cold front scrapes up warmth and moisture resulting in scattered showers with some rumbles of thunder. No severe weather is expected. Wherever the heaviest showers occur will see 1-2″ of rain, whereas most others will see between a tenth and half an inch. Not really enough to help us much with our current situation, but it’s better than nothing.
A bit of a relief in temperatures Thursday and Friday, before we get back up into the 90s this weekend.
