Reverend Colin Pritchard, who led a memorial vigil for Nordquist earlier this year, highlighted the community’s ongoing support for the Nordquist family. “Because of the local nature of the trauma, there are people still in this area who are continuing to really try and support that family, recognizing that, while the Nordquist family is not from here, they are now connected to this space,” Pritchard said.
Pritchard also spoke about how the tragedy has united the Geneva community. “Sadly a massive tragedy has connected people around, wait a minute, recognizing the shared humanity of folks, whether they are local or not, whether they are trans or not,” he said.
The next hearing for Sam Nordquist’s murder is scheduled for Sept. 2 at the Ontario County Courthouse in Canandaigua.
