A TikTok video posted last week showed two people in connection to a fatal street-racing crash in New Jersey being extradited after being arrested in Miami.
Officials said an investigation showed that Alvi Limani, 20, of Staten Island, was allegedly driving recklessly while racing on the Garden State Parkway on June 29 when his BMW struck two other vehicles and ultimately rolled over multiple times.
Albion Hysenaj, 20, also of Staten Island, died after being ejected from Limani’s vehicle. Another passenger who was ejected suffered serious injuries and was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
Limani and another passenger who was not ejected from the car allegedly ran from the site of the crash.
According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Colonel Patrick J. Callahan of the New Jersey State Police, detectives determined that Limani later fled to Miami with his mother — Vilma Vneshta, 42 — while attempting to leave the country.
Limani and Vneshta were apprehended on July 17 near Miami, where they were held pending extradition to New Jersey.
Video posted last week by TikTok user @Jhongb85 showed a large police presence at a New York airport as Limani and Vneshta were escorted down a staircase and into a police vehicle.
Officials said Limani was charged with litany of crimes including:
First-degree aggravated manslaughter Second-degree vehicular homicide Second-degree knowingly leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death Third-degree causing death while driving with a suspended license Two counts of third-degree endangering an injured victim Two counts of third-degree endangering Third-degree tampering with public recordsVneshta was charged with third-degree Hindering.
Emily Harrington, 19, of Staten Island — the passenger who allegedly fled the scene with Limani — was charged with third-degree hindering, fourth degree obstruction, and fourth-degree conspiracy to endanger another.
Jeter Ogando, 23, of Perth Amboy – who was allegedly driving the other vehicle involved in the racing incident — was charged with second-degree vehicular homicide, third-degree endangering another, and fourth-degree assault by auto.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
