A woman is dead and five others were injured in a mass shooting on Chicago’s West Side early Sunday.
According to police, the shooting occurred in the 100 block of North Lacrosse Avenue at approximately 2:48 a.m. Sunday.
Among those shot was a 22-year-old woman, who was struck in the back by gunfire. She was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.
Three more victims of the shooting were listed in critical condition, police said. That included an 18-year-old who was shot in the chest and a 17-year-old that was shot in the thigh, according to police. Both remain hospitalized Sunday morning.
A 29-year-old man was also shot in the leg, and remains in critical condition.
Police say an 18-year-old was shot in the left hand, and was treated and released at the scene. A 29-year-old woman was struck in the elbow, and remains hospitalized in good condition.
No further details were available, and Area Four detectives are working to identify a suspect in the shooting.
