2025 Speedo Canadian SC Championships
August 7-10, 2025 Sherbrooke, Quebec SCM (25 meters) Live Results Day 1 RecapBlake Tierney is coming off a very strong 2025 World Championships, and he is riding that momentum through the Canadian Short Course Championships this week.
On day 2 of the meet, Tierney won the men’s 50 backstroke in 23.34, the 3rd fastest time in Canadian History in the event. He comes in just behind Finlay Knox, who swam 23.03 at the 2024 SC Worlds and Javier Acevedo in 23.05 from the 2022 SC Worlds.
This was a new best time for Tierney by almost half-a-second from the 23.74 he set in March to first take over the 3rd fastest Canadian spot, but he is inching up on Acevedo and Knox.
Tierney came in just ahead of Andrew Herman who maintained his position of 4th fastest Canadian in history, while also dropping almost half-a-second from his previous best of 23.77 which was also from March.
Apollo Hess won the men’s 100 breaststroke in 58.64, the 2nd fastest time in the country this season after Finlay Knox who sits at 57.90 from the SC Worlds in December.
Hess has a best time of 58.55 from November 2022, but this was a new season best for him, improving from the 59.18 he swam in December.
Lucas Morgan swam 59.26 to finish 2nd overall, moving up to 3rd in the country this year. He jumps a number of athletes, and he now comes in ahead of Nicholas Duncan who sits at 59.38 from March.
Morgan also makes his way onto the top 25 all time rankings, sitting at 14th all time in the event, just ahead of Eli Wall at 59.29.
Other Event Winners
Sarah Fournier won the women’s 100 freestyle in 53.99. This was more than a second off her season best of 52.68 from December. She came in more than half-a-second ahead of Kelly Payton, who touched in 54.66. The men’s 100 freestyle went to Eric Ginzburg in 47.83, just four hundredths ahead of Luke Stewart-Beinder‘s 47.87 . Ginzburg also won the men’s 50 fly in 23.13, almost two tenths ahead of Chris Weeks‘ 23.31. Bridget Burton won the women’s 50 backstroke in 27.39, a tenth faster than the 27.50 she swam in March. Rebecca McGrath from PCSC was 2nd in 27.61. SAMAK’s Shanelle Beaudoin won the women’s 100 breaststroke in 1:08.32, a little more than a second ahead of Veanna Bui‘s 1:09.58. Michelle Wang took 1st in the 50 fly at 26.83, a little more than a tenth ahead of Bridget Burton, who swam 26.98 to win her 2nd medal of the day. Charlotte Brousseau swam 4:44.78 in the women’s 400 IM to take the gold by more than five seconds over Laila Oravsky‘s 4:49.97. The men’s 400 IM went to Edward-Daniel Rusu in 4:16.07, two-and-a-half seconds ahead of Carter Scheffel‘s 4:18.74. CAMO won both the men’s and women’s 4×50 freestyle relay. The women’s team of Gabrielle Beasse (25.85), Elsa Yazedjian (26.17), Charlotte Brousseau (26.46), Elan Daley (25.41) swam 1:43.89.
