USA Swimming Scholastic All-American Andrew Chou from Clinton, Tennessee, will swim for Dartmouth College beginning in the fall. At the time of his commitment, he wrote on social media:
“It’s hard to express the amount of gratitude and excitement I feel committing to the application process of Dartmouth college. I’m extremely happy to pursue my future in the pool, school, and whatever is left to come with the help of this wonderful institution. Big thanks to my friends, coaches, and parents who all helped me get to this point. Go Big Green!!! ”
Chou had a big senior year, culminating in his first mention as one of our “Best of the Rest” recruits on our final re-rank for the class of 2025.
Chou was a TISCA state champion for Oak Ridge High School this past season. He won the 100 fly with a PB of 47.26 and was runner-up in the 100 back with 47.32. In club swimming, where he represents Tennessee Aquatics, he was a finalist in the 100 back (4th), 200 back (22nd), 100 fly (13th), and 200 IM (14th) at 2024 Winter Juniors East. He picked up then-PBs at that meet in the 100 back (47.30), 200 back (1:46.15), 100 fly (48.07), 200 fly (1:49.77), and 200 IM (1:47.64).
Following high school season, Chou competed at Southern Premier and clocked PBs in the 100 free, 200 free, 200 back, and 200 fly. His most notable improvements from Winter Juniors were drops of 2.8 seconds in the 200 back and 2.2 seconds in the 200 fly.
Chou wrapped up his 2025 long course season last week at Summer Juniors in Irvine, where he hit lifetime bests of 26.18 in the 50 back, 56.68 in the 100 back, 2:03.18 in the 200 back, 25.36 in the 50 fly, and 55.74 in the 100 fly. He placed 7th in the 50 back, 17th in the 100 back, and 10th in the 200 back.
Chou is a big recruit for the Big Green. He would have been Dartmouth’s fastest 100 backstroker and 100 butterflyer in 2024-25. His best times would have scored at last year’s Ivy League Men’s Championships in the ‘B’ finals of the 100 back and 100 fly and the ‘C’ finals of the 200 back and 200 fly. He also would have helped the medley relays, being half a second faster than Dartmouth’s lead-off in the 4×50 and a full second faster in the 4×100.
