Matthew Boyd got into periodic trouble, but worked out of a lot of it. Would’ve been a perfectly fine start on most days with most offenses. But the Cubs’ bats just aren’t supplying much of anything right now.
Who even merits the Ankin Law “Making It Personal” Player of the Game? Nate Pearson for two scoreless innings of mop-up work? Jordan Walker for a huge game for the Cardinals? I don’t know. Whatever. We’re low, folks.
