Reba McEntire and Brandon Blackstock had a fun family outing five months before his tragic death at age 48.
On March 4, the pair spent the day at RodeoHouston in Texas along with Brandon's half-brother, Shelby Blackstock, and McEntire's boyfriend, Rex Linn. McEntire, 70, also performed at the event.
The following day, the former Reba star shared a heartfelt Instagrampost that also featured other members of their family, including Shelby's wife, Marissa Blackstock, and three of Brandon's children (Savanah Blackstock, Seth Blackstock, and Remington "Remy" Alexander Blackstock).
"Family time, the @rodeohouston , & corn dogs! We had a blast in Houston watching @rissablackstock experience her first rodeo & being able to spend cherished time with family! Mom's concert was the icing on the cake!" the country legend wrote.

Brandon was McEntire's former stepson, as the "I'm a Survivor" singer was married to his father, Narvel Blackstock, from 1989 to 2015. Despite McEntire and Narvel's divorce, she and Brandon remained close.
In an October 2021 interview with Entertainment Tonight, the country icon spoke about their bond and how she was "praying" for both Brandon and superstar Kelly Clarkson amid their divorce.
"Brandon's been my son forever it seems. Although he's my stepson, I still love him like he's my total—my blood, so I'm praying for 'em both 'cause I love 'em both," she continued.
On August 7, 2025, Brandon tragically died following a battle with cancer.
Clarkson, 43, issued a statement to Instagram on August 6, revealing that she'd be putting her Las Vegas residency on hold to spend time with her kids as Brandon struggled with his health.
