Last year, it was England’s Judd Trump who came out on top against Mark Williams to bank half a million pounds, and he is back in the Middle East.

Ronnie O’Sullivan, Trump and the rest of the top 16 don’t enter the tournament until Tuesday when they will face a winner of one of the fourth-round matches.

However, veterans like Ken Doherty and Jimmy White are competing, and the prize pot is open to all.

They will all be looking to emulate Page this year who used the money to help buy a house.

Speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast about it, the Welshman said: “From the first ball of the second one, I was going for it. I knew the balls were there. I just thought, ‘Yeah, let’s go for it’.

“I was 9-2 up, so I had a little bit of breathing room, so I just went for it and somehow managed to make it.”

When asked if he was nervous knowing a bonus was on the line, he said: “I wasn’t too bad. The 15th black to yellow was tough, but as soon as that went in, I was calm, and I knew it was happening.

Regarding how he celebrated, the Welshman said: “Yeah, I just went to Miller & Carter and then bed.”

But making 147s is a regular thing for Page, at least in practice.

He remarked: “I make them all the time. I have probably had four or five in the last couple of weeks, so it happens regularly. 

“It just felt a bit routine in the end, which is a good thing, but it’s just a great feeling to have it in a match.”
