Richardson, 23, was flattened by the unmarked defender and came off with a nasty injury.

The Colts‘ star was left with a dislocated pinkie finger on his right hand with 7.33 left to play of the first quarter.

His finger was caught by TV cameras pointing at a near 90-degree angle away from his hand.

The medical team rushed onto the pitch to attend to Richardson and popped the finger back into place.

However, he was soon ruled out of the game due to the blow.

Speaking after the game, Richardson admitted he initially thought he was “tripping” when he spotted his finger.

    He said: “It was weird.

“He hit me, then I was trying to make sure I had the ball and I just looked down

“I saw my finger in a different direction. I’m like, ‘Maybe I’m tripping.’

“And I looked at it again. It was definitely like that.”

It is a blow for Richardson, who is hoping to be the starting quarterback for the Colts in the 2025 NFL season.

The injury could give an opportunity to veteran Daniel Jones to make the starting spot his own.

Fans spotted the moment and reacted to the gruesome-looking injury on social media.

One posted: “Anthony Richardson‘s finger… Owww.”
